How to Remove Blog Page from WordPress (Delete Posts Page)

In this video, I’m going to show you how to remove the blog page from a WordPress website. (delete the WordPress posts page)

By default WordPress is set to have a blog on the home page.

Or, you might have a “static home page”, with your blog posts on a different page.

But, some websites really don’t require a blog at all.

So, if we want to remove the WordPress blog page entirely.
This is how it’s done.


Note: I’m using WordPress.org in this video (not WordPress.com).

Hi guys, it’s Martie here.

And in this quick video, we’re going to be covering how to remove the blog page from a WordPress website.

See, by default WordPress is set to have a blog on the home page.

Or, you might have what’s known as a “static home page”.

With your blog appearing on a different page.

But, some websites really don’t require a blog at all.

So, if we want to remove the WordPress blog page.

This is how it’s done.

From the dashboard, we need to visit our website, by clicking our site title in the top left.

Then, click “Customize” at the top, to open up our theme options.

Now, on the left, we need to find and click into “Homepage Settings”.

And, I should point out here, that some themes call this option by different names.

But, it’s usually going to be called something like “Homepage Settings” or “Front Page Settings”.

Then, once we get here, under where it says “Your homepage displays”.

This will be set to “Your latest posts”, by default.

And this means our blog posts appear will appear the home page.

Then, to remove the blog page, we’re going to make sure this is set to “A static page”.

Then, underneath we’re going to choose the page we want to use as our home page.

Or, we can click “+ Add New Page” underneath, to create a new one.

I’m just going to call mine “Home” in this example.

Then, click “Add” to create it.

And we’ll see this updates right away, in the preview on the right.

Then, for our posts page, which is our main blog page, we’re going to choose “– Select –” at the top of this list.

And this means no blog page will be set.

Now, we just need click “Publish” at the top, to save our changes.

Then, click the X in the top left, to close out of the theme options.

At this point, we’ll see our home page has now been replaced with whatever page we chose.

Or, the new one we just created.

And I should point out here, that even though we removed the blog page from our website.

We can still create blog posts, and link to them from our different pages.

They just won’t appear on our website, on a blog.

Then, finally, if we had our posts showing on any page, other than the home page.

We’re going to need to delete that page as well.

So, in my example, I had my posts on a page called “Blog”, which is still showing in my menu.

But, if I click into it, it’s now just a blank page.

So, we just need to click “Edit” at the top, to open it up in the editor.

Then, over on the right, we’re going to click “Move to Trash”.

And now, if we visit our site.

The blog page will no longer show in our menu, and it’ll be completely removed from our site.

Then, the last thing we need to do is add content to our new static home page.

To do this, we just need to click “Edit” at the top, to open it up in the editor.

And then we can edit it like any other page.

So, that’s us now at the end of this video, and that was how to remove the blog page from a WordPress website.
